At MaserGrup, we continue to work to enhance the cultural heritage of Reus and bring it closer to the community. In this context, on December 11, Casa Navàs hosted the presentation of the book La Casa Navàs by journalist and writer Raimon Portell, in a highly symbolic setting: the building’s former shop, a space deeply connected to its history and to the collective memory of the city.

The event took place in a particularly meaningful environment, as MaserGrup currently manages Casa Navàs and is one of its owners. This connection allows us to promote initiatives that contribute to the dissemination and preservation of one of the great landmarks of Catalan Modernism, designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

The book offers a rigorous and well-documented perspective on Casa Navàs, placing it within the historical, social and economic context of early 20th-century Reus. Raimon Portell examines the circumstances that made the construction of this exceptional building possible and explores in depth the architectural, artistic and symbolic elements that make it a unique example of Modernist heritage.

During the presentation, the author shared with the audience the research and writing process behind the book, highlighting the importance of communicating cultural heritage in a clear, accessible and engaging way. The book is aimed at both local readers and visitors, researchers and Modernism enthusiasts who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the history of Casa Navàs and the city of Reus.

Choosing the former shop as the venue for the event enhanced the warm and evocative atmosphere of the presentation. A space that for decades was part of the city’s commercial life and that today is being consolidated as a cultural and educational space, in line with the management and revitalization project promoted by MaserGrup.

For us, initiatives like this reinforce the idea that heritage is a living, shared story that is constantly evolving. The book La Casa Navàs thus becomes a key tool for understanding the cultural and symbolic value of one of Reus’ most iconic buildings.

The book is now available at the Casa Navàs shop and in bookstores in Reus and across the region, also making it an ideal cultural gift for the holiday season.
