Casa Navàs, an iconic building in Reus managed by MaserGrup, continues to move forward with one of the most significant heritage projects in its recent history: the reconstruction of the original façade tower, which was destroyed during the Civil War bombings in 1938. The process was recently featured in a TV3 report, offering audiences an inside look at an intervention that combines historical accuracy, craftsmanship, and contemporary technology.

The recovery of the tower represents the most important architectural intervention at the building since the beginning of its current phase of preservation and cultural opening. The project is based on extensive research into original documentation, plans, and historical photographs to ensure the reconstruction faithfully reflects the work conceived by modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner in the early 20th century. The architects leading the intervention have relied on this material to accurately restore volumes, proportions, and original construction solutions.

One of the key aspects of the project is the involvement of specialized artisans, who reproduce traditional materials and techniques to preserve the authenticity of the whole. The original tower was entirely built in stone, and the new structure will maintain this external appearance through the use of the same Vinaixa stone historically used in the building. At the same time, to comply with current safety and functional regulations, an internal metal structure has been incorporated to ensure stability and durability without altering its heritage image.

For MaserGrup, the reconstruction of the tower represents a decisive step in restoring the original appearance of Casa Navàs and preserving one of Europe’s great modernist landmarks. Media coverage through outlets such as TV3 helps bring the complexity and value of this heritage restoration work closer to the public, while reinforcing the building’s positioning as a leading cultural site.

Through this intervention, Casa Navàs continues advancing its mission to conserve and promote heritage, aligned with MaserGrup’s commitment to culture, history, and territory, progressively recovering the original silhouette that shaped the skyline of Reus in the early 20th century.
