Laying of the First Stone for the Reconstruction of the Casa Navàs Tower

Nov 20, 2025 | Masergrup-en

At MaserGrup, we are excited to take part in a restoration project that not only recovers a piece of our architectural heritage but also reinforces our commitment to the history, territory, and culture of Reus. This week, we laid the first stone for the reconstruction of the Casa Navàs tower, an emblematic building managed by Setier, a company within our group and partial owner of the Casa.

The tower of Casa Navàs was destroyed in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. Thanks to MaserGrup’s initiative, a new phase of works has begun, following the installation of scaffolding and the support structure several weeks ago. This project, highly complex due to the historical importance of the house for the city and for Catalan modernism, is led by architects Joan Tous and Pau Jansà, together with restorer Pau Arroyo, and will be carried out by the construction company Constècnia.

The new tower will be built on a stainless-steel structure, onto which hand-carved stone blocks will be placed, faithfully replicating the original ornamental elements designed by Domènech i Montaner. Once the main support is completed, artisans will install stained-glass windows and ironwork pieces, all conceived in accordance with the original project. These ornamental elements are the result of meticulous craftsmanship, using Vinaixa stone and newly produced stained glass, as almost no original fragments of the tower remain.

Betting on heritage value

For MaserGrup, the laying of the first stone marks a key milestone: the reconstruction of the tower will not only restore the original exterior appearance of Casa Navàs but will also enhance the heritage value of Mercadal Square. According to estimates, the works are expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2026.

We would also like to highlight that this project is financed entirely with private funds provided by MaserGrup. Our commitment to the restoration of Casa Navàs is part of our corporate responsibility vision: preserving cultural heritage, promoting craftsmanship, and generating value for the local community.
