At MaserGrup, we believe that preserving business memory is also a way of contributing to the development of the local area. With this vision, on 27 October we presented at Casa Navàs the book Aspirina made in Reus. Industrials farmacèutics, by Joan Antoni Domènech, the second volume of the MaserGrup Business History Library.
This collection was created with the aim of recovering, documenting and sharing the stories of businesses and entrepreneurs that have played a significant role in the economic and social transformation of Reus and its surrounding area.
This volume focuses on a lesser-known chapter in the city’s industrial history: the development of the pharmaceutical sector. The book traces the careers of sixteen entrepreneurs, thirteen of whom were pharmacists, and revisits initiatives linked to products such as Aspirina, Almendrina, Litines Serra and Blevit baby cereals.
Through extensive documentary research, photographs, labels and advertising materials, the publication shows how entrepreneurship, innovation and industrial capacity were already part of Reus’ business DNA decades ago.
The presentation at Casa Navàs, a building owned by MaserGrup and a symbol of the city’s commercial dynamism at the beginning of the 20th century, provided a particularly meaningful setting for the project.
At MaserGrup, we want to continue promoting initiatives that connect business, culture and the local community. The MaserGrup Business History Library is part of this commitment: preserving the past to better understand the present and help build the business future of the region.
